Story boards + DLUX + JEss3 = flowers
I recently began doing some work with long time fellow designer Jesse Thomas. He hired me to work on this Engage DC flash piece that was a fairly difficult build, and then for a crazy client pitch for some K Street Power types…
This pitch involved 4 different Concepts, presented as Story Boards, arranged in a PDF deck.
While Jesse worked feverishly on a fancy PDF containing concept, budget, etc… I was running down entire stories over 16 frames as advanced thumbnails, with dialog and direction and some even had multiple style frame concepts! SNAP!
This all had to be turned in about 24 hours.
SNAP!SNAP!
So I cranked that Soulja Boy from 5pm to 5am on day 1, and then back at it again from 9am the next day until “Pencils Down” was called at 12:30pm…
Then Jesse and Leslie started sending these emails to me like “You da man DLUX” and “PERFECT SENDING DONE YAY”, respectively…
And it was cool, everyone was happy, the clients were happy, I was happy.
But then today something showed up on my doorstep…
Flowers. Thoughtful and very cool flowers.
Thanks Jesse. That’s some really pro stuff. If anyone learns anything from this, it’s that telling people thank you is one thing… but sending unannounced gifts is really nice.
but I knew he was up to something… then I got the IM at 10pm tonight!!!
“i got a flash project, a bit of design..”
here we go again!

Sean, you are my new favorite go-to on all things awesome. I am really glad we could collaborate on this.
From our involved discussions of markets and supply chains, to your can-do attitude and hott product… we all truly enjoyed working with you, too!!
Better yet, there is more where this came from.
And the flower idea, that was all Jess3… he is as thoughtful as he is aggressive, so it all balances out!
PS: this was very entertaining to read, SNAP SNAP and the verbatims had me ROTFL.
